Wulfenite is a very fragile and beautiful mineral with the chemical formula PbMoO4. That means it's a lead molybdate, formed from lead, molybdenum, and oxygen.
These thin tabular crystals were formed as hot fluid flowed through cracks in the rocks, dissolving minerals and depositing the participating elements to form new minerals.
Wulfenite can be orange, yellow, red, or even yellow, grey, or brownish. However, the ones found at the Red Cloud Mine in Arizona are this fabulously vibrant orange.
The crystal pieces were hand collected and hand wire wrapped by me. Check them out on Etsy, where you can shop for other rocks and minerals and geology gifts as well!
